The idea behind the exchange is a simple one…
It is all about celebrating and promoting printmaking by facilitating connections within the print community, spanning the UK and beyond!
What sets the 20:20 Exchange apart from others is its exclusive focus on PRINT GROUPS.
Whether it’s local community print collectives, groups, workshops, studios, or academic printmaking departments from universities and colleges, we invite all Print Groups to register their artists to submit an original print edition of 25. These prints are then exchanged, exhibited, and shared with a vibrant global print community!
Here’s how it works…
PRINT GROUPS consisting of FIVE members (or multiples thereof, up to a maximum of 40) can register to participate.
Each artist within the group creates an edition of 25 prints, all sized at 20x20cm, adhering to our Print Guidelines.
All prints are submitted collectively by the PRINT GROUP to Hot Bed Press.
There's a £15 submission fee per entry, payable by each print group or studio. Once registered and confirmed, Hot Bed Press will invoice the print representative for the collective payment from each artist.
In return, after an exciting 'BIG SORT' at Hot Bed Press, each artist will receive a selection box containing 20 unique prints from other participants.
Additionally, print groups will receive a box of random prints and one from a "twinned" group, fostering connections. This exchange acts as a catalyst for collaborations and partnerships within the print community, and can also serve as a revenue stream for workshops and studios through the sale of prints from both the random and twinned portfolios.
The 1/25 print from each edition embarks on a year-long TOUR across the UK and internationally.

Annually, registration opens in early May, requiring group numbers and payments to be confirmed by Early of July.
From July to the end of September:
You and your artists have the window to print and submit all your works and information to Hot Bed Press.

Group size
Is your group too small or are you struggling to gather five participants?
You might consider someone entering twice, it will be double the entry fee, and you’d receive two boxes of prints in return!
If your group size is larger than 40, please reach out to us for guidance.
